Aromatherapy & Essential oils

Aromatherapy is an additional service that can be provided with Reflexology and the use of essential oils with my treatment plans makes them more effective by providing additional relaxation, pain relief and improved mood.  Generally during any initial consultation, essential oils and any allergies you may have will be discussed..

Over the years I have tried many different essential oil types and brands, but I always came back to Young Living Essential Oils for their consistent quality and unique blends.  I use them exclusively for my practice and they are available for purchase.

Essential oils are very potent, so you have to be cautious when you use them. Remember, a little goes a long way!

  • Less is more! You can always add another drop, so start slow, whether you’re using your oils topically, aromatically, or internally.
  • Due to potency, some oils may be irritating to the skin. If irritation occurs, immediately apply V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex or pure vegetable oil to the affected area to dilute.
  • Always read label directions for each individual oil before use.
  • Do not put essential oils in eyes, ears, nose, or other areas with sensitive skin.

The History of Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy has been around for over 6000 years. The ancient Greeks, Romans and Egyptians all used aromatherapy oils. Imhotep, an Egyptian physician also thought to be the Egyptian god of medicine and healing, recommended fragrant oils for bathing, massage and for embalming the dead. Hippocrates, father of modern medicine, used aromatherapy baths and scented massage in ancient Greece. He also used aromatic fumigations to rid Athens of the plague.
